Program & Education Committee

Purpose of Committee

  • Charged with conducting educational events, in various formats and locations, to engage members and enrich their Nursing leadership knowledge and skills.
  • Responsible for planning all aspects of the Annual Nursing Leadership Conference and selecting the speakers, topics, format, and additional activities that may occur in conjunction with the event.
  • Collaborate with regional councils in planning and offering educational sessions in various parts of the state.

Role/Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in regular conference calls
  • Assist in identifying topics and subject matter, recruiting speakers, reviewing abstract submissions.
  • Provide support to annual conference as needed.
Time Commitment
  • Approx. 2 hours/month for committee meetings
  • Meets second and fourth Wednesday of the month, at 4:30 pm


Legislation Committee

Purpose of Committee

  • Charged with monitoring, reporting and recommending legislative action at the state and federal level to the PONL Board.
  • Create and disseminate letters, talking points, and position papers to members, legislators, and other interested stakeholders.
  • Promote the development, relationship, and open communication between PONL membership and legislators.
  • Analyzes, discusses, and makes recommendations to the PONL Board regarding legislation being considered in both the Pennsylvania and United States House and Senate.

Role/Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in regular conference calls
Time Commitment
  • Approx. 1 hour/every other month for committee meetings.
  • As needed volunteer assignments to achieve committee goals.
  • Meets fourth Tuesday of the month, at 11:00 am

New Nurse Leader Conference
Planning Committee

Purpose of Committee

  • Surveys new leaders to determine what educational topics will most assist them in their roles.
  • Identifies speakers, decides format, and locations to provide requested education and skills training.

Role/Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in regular conference calls
  • Assist in identifying topics and subject matter, recruiting speakers.
Time Commitment
  • Approx. 1 hour/every month for committee meetings.
  • As needed volunteer assignments to achieve committee goals.
  • Meets first and third Friday of the month, at 12:00 pm


Membership Committee

Purpose of Committee

  • Charged with monitoring and increasing PONL membership numbers in all regions.
  • Brainstorm membership incentive initiatives and marketing strategies.
  • Create content for the biannual membership survey, analyzes survey results, and recommends actions based on these findings.

Role/Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in monthly conference calls
  • Provide insight and experience to be used to recruit additional members.
Time Commitment
  • Approx. 1 hour/month for committee meetings.
  • As needed volunteer assignments to achieve committee goals.
  • Meets second Friday of the month, at 1:30 pm
